AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO MEDITATION

Meditation can allow you to cultivate a heightened sense of overall awareness. This awareness is an integral step in reducing stress and enlivening your natural state of inner peace and joy. Holding a space for stillness and inner quiet allows the mind, body and spirit to come together as one. This sense of wholeness creates a container for a wellspring of inner resources: enhanced sensations and pleasure, a greater ability to concentrate and focus, and a direct experience of transcendent states of interconnectedness.

Getting Started - Meditation Tips:

  • Find a quiet, calm place and see aside a few minutes for yourself. 10-15 minutes is ideal, but meditating for even a minute has great benefits. Consistency is more important than length.
  • You can meditate silently, but many people use a focusing word that begins with an "oh" or "ah" sound and ends with an M or N sound-like amen, om, or shalom.
  • Close your eyes and take deep, slow, rhythmic breaths.
  • Allow your attention to reside along your central axis.
  • Breathe in & out through your nose, emphasizing a slow exhalation.
  • Keeping your eyes closed, repeat your word and emphasize the humming sound at the end.
